If you haven’t installed WordPress yet, you would want to check this article out first.
That being said, let’s get into how to add the ads.txt file to your WordPress website!
Step 1: Log in to your hosting account
The first thing you have to do is log in to your hosting account.
In my case it’s A2 Hosting, but for you it can be GoDaddy, HostGator, SiteGround, and any other hosting website.
Step 2: Access the cPanel and look for the “File Manager”
The next thing you have to do is log in to your cPanel so you can add the ads.txt file to your WordPress site from there.
Once you are in your cPanel, you have to look for the File Manager.
In our case, it’s right at the very top, however you might have to look for it, so just type in “File Manager” in the search bar in cPanel, and it should come up.
This is where you can add and edit all the files associated with your website.
Be very careful here and DON’T TOUCH ANYTHING except what we are about to do next.
Step 3: Add the ads.txt file to your cPanel File Manager
Lastly, you just have to add the ads.txt file to your WordPress site.
You have 2 options of doing this.
a) You can either upload the file directly by clicking on “Upload” and just selecting the file that you downloaded from your AdSense account or whatever other media website where you’re trying to monetize your website.
b) You can add a new blank file by clicking on “Add file” and just name it whatever you want to, probably “ads.txt” for your reference later on.
You would then simply right click this file and click on “edit” to edit it and you can PASTE all the data provided into here.
Step 4: Check your setup
Now all of this is done and you just have to check to make sure that this file was correctly added.
If you named your file that you added “ads.txt”, then to check, simply enter your website, and then add the “ads.txt” to the end of it.
So for our example, our website name is “thisyoutubetutorial.com” – to check that you correctly added the ads.txt file to your WordPress site, simply type in “thisyoutubetutorial.com/ads.txt into the URL bar of your browser and if the data shows up that was supposed to be there, you know you set everything up correctly!
And that’s how you add the ads.txt file to your WordPress website!
