Unbounce vs. Clickfunnels Comparison (2020) – Which One Is Right for You?

by Ivan

Hey all! In this video, I show you the differences between Unbounce and ClickFunnels to help you decide which option is right for you. Here is my 2020 Unbounce vs. Clickfunnels comparison.

A little bit about myself – I have started using ClickFunnels in 2017 when I first started online marketing and since then have built a total of 179 funnels/landing page with them. I have built over 100+ landing pages with Unbounce as well and generated money from both ClickFunnels as well as Unbounce pages (can’t give you exact Unbounce number because they don’t show the landing pages that you deleted and no longer use).

So I have some experience using both of these tools and can provide a more thorough look at the differences between the 2 software tools.

I also strongly suggest that you check out my Unbounce playlist here with currently over 19+ videos if you want to know how to create a page from start to finish and then integrate it with the 3rd party tools you need to start promoting your products online.

I also have my full ClickFunnels playlist here with 64+ videos teaching you how to create a landing page/funnel from scratch.

That being said …

In this post, I cover 5 main points to compare between ClickFunnels and Unbounce.

1. Function – does the software deliver what it promises?
2. Simplicity – how easy is it to use the software?
3. Control – how much customization do you have available?
4. Support – is the support team there for you and willing to help?
5. Price – a combination of all of the above tools

So let’s start with the first point then!

1. Function

ClickFunnels is considered the all-in-one marketing tool that gets you everything you need to promote your products online. Here is a picture of what their website is all about based on Google SEO data:

That means they include autoresponders, affiliate management tool, webinar funnels, sales funnels, membership sites, domains, etc …

Do they fulfill their promise? Well yes and no.

They DO deliver everything as they say … but the tools aren’t as perfect as you would want them to be.

For example emails sometimes don’t go out appropriately to all members of your email list, membership sites have some issues, webinars are usually best if using another specific webinar tool in conjunction, etc …

Click here to see the video of why Miles Beckler stopped using the ClickFunnels membership site for example.

I have also worked with a few clients who were using ClickFunnels and sometimes their emails just wouldn’t go through successfully.

Everything was set up correctly, and yet some of their contacts still wouldn’t get emails.

This is also a common thread you will find some people talking about online.

Unbounce on the other hand promises you the ability to create landing page, and they fully deliver on that promise:

They give you all the tools you need to create the best landing pages, including dynamic text replacement (DTR), which can increase your Google/Bing ads quality scores.

Check this video out if you want to see how to use the DTR in action:

For the function and delivering on what it promises, I would give Unbounce the win.

2. Simplicity

Both tools are very easy to use, but ClickFunnels is just a tad bit easier because their page consists of “blocks”.

Unbounce vs. Clickfunnels Comparison (2020)You drag and drop elements you want into these blocks and are done with it. There is no need to fix up the blocks, make them wider, narrower, and so on.

Just drag and drop elements into these pre-defined blocks, and you are done at that, knowing everything is evened out and looks tidy.

In Unbounce on the other hand, there are no blocks and you need to make sure the elements fit in neatly wherever they should be.

Unbounce vs. Clickfunnels Comparison (2020)You still drag and drop and place elements on the page anywhere you like, but you would need to spend a little more time aligning the elements and making them the perfect size. There are no “blocks” and after you do add an element, you have to adjust it to make sure it aligns well with everything else.

So although both are very easy to learn and use, ClickFunnels page creation is just a tad bit easier.

3. Control/Customization

The flip side of the coin for simplicity is control.

Because ClickFunnels is so simple to use, there is also a limit as to what you can do.

In the video, I show you how if you want to place an arrow ANYWHERE on the page, you really can’t and it has to go in specific blocks. Here is a screenshot of me trying to place the arrow to the left of the button:

Unbounce vs. Clickfunnels Comparison (2020)

As you can see, there is really no space for the arrow to the left or right of the button. Any element has to go in pre-defined slots, in this case above or below the button.

I COULD add a row that has 3 columns, but then that will also look really awkward because you will have an image on the left-hand side, text and button on the right-hand side, and then a button in the middle by itself occupying a ton of space. Definitely not ideal.

With Unbounce on the other hand, you can place elements ANYWHERE on the page at all, so you have way more control here. Here is my trying to place an arrow to the left of the email form field:

As you can see, that’s easily done.

You can literally place the elements anywhere on the page at all.

It’s simplicity without the coding.

For this point, Unbounce is again the winner!

4. Unbounce vs. ClickFunnels Support

Full disclaimer, I haven’t used any support for ClickFunnels nor Unbounce in the past few months, but from what I recall, ClickFunnels support is good, whereas Unbounce is excellent.

I really felt like a special customer with Unbounce and when I signed up, I was even sent a bag of goodies to my home, which was an awesome personal touch!

With ClickFunnels, I feel like the support has really gone down over my last few months talking to them, and they mostly just give generic answers now.

It oftentimes took me a few tickets of back and forth with the ClickFunnels rep about the same thing before they finally admitted to not knowing or being unsure about something and submitting the ticket to a senior rep.

With Unbounce, the reps usually provide very thorough support with tons of resources and details, and if they don’t know something, they pass it on to a senior member of the team who also replies back with a very detailed and thorough reply.

This was just my experience, but I would say Unbounce is the winner here because I really feel like a valued customer with them.

5. Unbounce vs. ClickFunnels Pricing

So this will depend on everything we talked about already.

Both have 14-day free trials, so you can try both and see if they work for you.

Here is the ClickFunnels pricing table so you can see everything that would be included with the monthly cost:

It’s important to note that some of the “all-in-one” features you might be looking for, such as actionetics or backpack aren’t available on the starter plan and you have to upgrade to the $297 suite plan to get access to them.

Not bad, but a third-party autoresponder can cost you less than $50, so maybe that would be more efficient than signing up for the suite plan for $297.

Then here is the Unbounce pricing chart:

You can toggle between the monthly and yearly plans for this one, but if you want the landing page builder that offers you lots of control and customization, this would be a great option for you.

Also, if you sign up using my Unbounce link, you get a free 14 day trial, AND 20% off for your first 3 months using Unbounce – so an excellent addition that you can’t get on their pricing page alone!

In general, I would recommend using ClickFunnels if you want to build sales funnels, and Unbounce if you want the most control over your landing pages!
