In this post/video, I show you what to do to double check that your autoresponders in GetResponse don’t end up in spam.
Sometimes you may not even realize that your GetResponse autoresponders aren’t even going THROUGH to your subscribers, and you instead focus on your content, which may actually be superb… just that no one is actually able to RECEIVE your emails.
So that’s what we are trying to figure out here. If you are not sure how to set up autoresponders and how to use it’s functions, make sure to check out my other posts/videos where we do just that:
So, what we need to do is click on the ‘spamscore’ option at the top of your autoresponder on the right-hand side right after you view your autoresponder. GetResponse uses a third party software called SpamAssassin to try to put a score to your email and determine what is the likelyhood of it going to spam. It will give you a score from 0 to 5, with 0 being the BEST, and 5 being the WORST, or most likely to end up in spam.
What you have to do is basically go down the list of what it tells you and correct the errors. SpamAssassin relies on their 3rd party software to determine some common ‘spammy’ words, which could be something like ‘money-back guarantee’ or ‘weight loss’. So if you get something like that showing up in your spam score, you may want to change those words up a bit or fix all the other errors on the page first.
If you are UNSURE of what something means, check out this page:
It has a list of these SpamAssassin terms that you can look at and see what the heck they mean.
A really, really, easy way for you to reduce your spam score is to add a non-HTML element to your page so that people who have HTML blacklisted for safety reasons (don’t want to receive any links/pictures/etc…) can still receive your message. So you need to click the ‘plain text’ option at the bottom, then click on ‘HTML to plain’, which will convert all your HTML text into plain text that your subscribers can read. After that, just click on ‘wrap long lines’ and your plain text lines will be shortened a bit and THAT will reduce your score and help your chances of making sure your GetResponse autoresponders land in the right hands and not in spam!
